Becoming my own Fairy Godmother....(with a little help from my friends)

So this week I begin my "new life".
My 12' x 32' Cottage is being moved onto my remaining 2 1/2 acres (I split half of it with my niece & nephew, & we traded.. cottage for mobile home). The cottage is unfinished inside, other that a make shift bathroom, some insulation & particle board covering the insulation. ie; a blank canvas. I get to completely design my mini dream home. (it is just a fuzz under 300 sf of living space, not including the 2 lofts, or the 4 foot  front porch).
At the moment, however, everything is in "wait" mode until it is moved. The water tap and electric meter should go in this week. The septic will be dug after the cottage is in place. A friend of mine has volunteered to do wiring and some carpentry  projects for me, my brother in law will do the plumbing. My sister and niece will help with the painting... and many hands will be carrying things to and fro. I'm moving from a 3 bedroom/ 2 bath mobile home .. to less than 1/3 of that space. And I am SOOOO excited about it! I've been doing research on "tiny homes" and leaving a smaller footprint on the earth. No, before you ask,.. I am not a "tree hugger". But I do think we should all make some changes to help our environment. (I might write a blog on that topic soon). Meanwhile, I am working on my life, and my goals. My main goal is to be happy. Life is far too short to be anything less, right? So what makes you happy? Why not make a list of goals to get you there? Hugs & Blessings, L

Once Upon a Time can happen any time!

Here's a clue, Princess, There is no knight in shining armor that is going to ride in and rescue you from your plight.
It's a big bad world out there, and you need to know how to rescue yourself. So put on your virtual armor, grab up your sword, and let's get started.

1) Why wait on a knight, a prince, or a fairy godmother to make changes in your life? Of all the Disney princesses, I have the most respect for Mulan.  Knowing the consequences, She stepped up to the plate, and did what had to be done.  Is she less of a woman for it? I think she is MORE.
You don't have to drop your hankie, and with a deep sigh & a southern drawl whine out an "Oh my, what evah WILL I do?"
To get a man's attention. If he does stop and pick up your hankie it's for 1 of 2 reason's Either he was raised with manners (a rarity these days) Or he wanted in your pants. (blunt, but true, ask a man)

2) What fun would a knight or a prince be anyway? A knight would always be off fighting battles, and probably die at a very young age. And a Prince would have to live his life based on some stuffy monarch's rules? Ummm, no thank you! Give me the black smith, or the stable boy (make that a stable MAN)
Even the court jester.... Any of the ordinary, every day guys who made the castle run on a daily basis with out needing all the pomp and circumstance to do it.

3) This should have been #1.....take a deep breath .. you ready?
It's ok to be single. In fact, it's better than ok. You ARE a complete person without a significant other in your life. So stop kissing toads! Get out there and make your own life happen.

what is Toadspit?

You know that moment, in the fairy tales, when the Princess kisses the frog? Well what does she get if he doesn't become a prince?  IMHO.. she got toadspit. How many times have you received toadspit? Is there a limit to a woman's desire to "fix" men? Oh.. I know, I know.. you love him just the way he is ;-) Uh huh. Don't we all. So my pledge, to myself is to be my a :
I'm new to blogging, but not to life. And I've certainly met my share of toads, some of whom were very very good at being toads. Others appeared to be frogs with potential, but transitioned to toads very quickly. Once, I even kissed a prince, who then turned into a toad! Since 50 just came and went, I find myself looking back, &  I have to ask myself: Why didn't I just try find a normal, well adjusted "non-prince" to begin with, instead of kissing those toads?
